Why this work

I’m ashamed to say I first came in contact with Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ by watching the movies, and although I do own a copy of the first volume, I still haven’t gotten around to reading it. In my defence, I was deeply impressed by Peter Jackson and his crews’ work, and I think I’ve seen all three movies four times now. Not only am I captivated by Tolkien’s amazingly vivid world, but also Jackson’s interpretation and portrayal of it. When I first heard I was getting to create my own version of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ cover, I was ecstatic. I always wanted to create some sort of tribute to LotR, and was determined to push myself to make this as good as my current skill level would allow.
