About the artist: Rodrigo Villasfrom Brasil

He comes from Rio de Janeiro.  A city seen by the whole world with a stereotypical image, which is based on both the joy of carnival but also unfortunately on violence. “The reality is that both sides exist,” he says, “but I will try to show the positive part without forgetting to mention the not so idyllic side.” “In terms of my graffiti street art, I intend to draw out more beauty in my work and the strengths, which arise from Rio. The nature, the wild environment of the city is the thing that generates the positive energy of people it feeds” he continues. “In that sense, my “canarinho” - a Love Bird - is partly a visual representation of that feeling. When I came to live in Barcelona I started at first to work with the character of the Bird and hung them around in the streets of many cities.” “The bird essentially is a constant immigrant, who is searching for his space in nature where it can live or survive. I identify myself with this idea this is essentially what we do: We move and we adapt. After 3 years I have also hung birds around Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, the United States, England, Spain and it keeps flying!”
